[Note from Wololo: I was on holiday earlier in August and am now publishing a backlog of articles that our bloggers wrote while I was away. Since I am the only one with publishing rights on the blog, some of the articles might not appear as "fresh" as they should be. I am the one to blame, not the bloggers]

The last time we spoke of Retro Arch was at 27th May.  They were planning to release v1.0.0.3 at that point, but now they’re planning an even bigger release! This one jumps from v1.0.0.2 to v1.1. Yes this is the update that includes the PSP Port, but that’s not just it. They’re also including a built in PSP emulator which uses the PPSSPP core. The PPSSPP core will be available for PC (Most likely for Linux/OSX and Windows), and mobile (iOS/Android/Blackberry).  Unless you’ve been living under a rock, and have no idea what PPSSPP is, it’s a PSP emulator for a number of systems like Androids, iOS, PC etc.

This update contains a lot of new goodies including:

- New cores such as the Vectrex, fMSX and BlueMSX and Improvements to existing cores such as the Mupen64Plus .

- A new GUI Menu, known as the lakka menu which should also include support for themes, as seen in the screenshot below.

The Lakka Menu/GUI

This menu’s design is similar to the XMB, where you use the right/left buttons to navigate through each section, and the up and down buttons to navigate through that specific section.

- Audio DSPs / Software Video Filters

- Support for Blackberry 10.

- Revamped iOS / OSX and Android ports

- X-Arcade Tankstick support

- A new server

These are the main features to be expected in the v1.1 release. They’re hoping to have it ready for early September. I’m pretty excited about the release, what about you guys?

More details can be found on their blog post.
