Dark_Alex was the king of the PSP scene with his custom firmware M33, on which pretty much all ePSP CFW today on the PS Vita are based. Mathieulh, who was involved in both the PSP and the PS3 scene and was part of Team M33, promised a “surprise” in the days to come.
April 2nd, or “March 33rd” is of course the appropriate date to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the most popular PSP Custom Firmware. The question is, what does Mathieu intend to release?
To PSP (and incidentally PS Vita) developers, a surprise awaits on March 33rd (April 2nd) to celebrate the 10th anniversary of M33! #M33

Some people speculate that he plans to release the source for M33, although honestly the benefits of doing that would mostly be “historical”, as most of M33 CFW has been reverse engineered and can now be found in TN-HEN or ARK (or also on CFW Pro on the PSP).
Other people assume the release could be specific to the PS Vita. Even though the developer has been precise that this is going to be a PSP release, he’s also been following the PS Vita scene from a distance, commenting on the recent Henkaku release (and hinting that team molecule have access to an exploit on firmware 3.63, which is how they got access to the PSN passphrase and restored PSN access on 3.60).
I wonder long it will take to figure out that the new Henkaku uses the psn passphrase from 3.63 and what it actually means…

Back in the PSP days, Dark_Alex and team initially had released M33 “anonymously”, pretending that M33 was a team of russian hackers. Back in the days, this started hilarious (in hindsight) flame wars between the people who would prefer to stick to Dark Alex’s “old” custom Firmware, and those who would say he could not compete against the new M33 team.
What do you think this release will be about?
Update: The release was indeed an open source version of M33 CFW and Despertar Del Cementerio.
