Developer ‘bomblik’ has released a port of GNU Robbo for the PSVita via GekiHEN. It seems that ports never stop being released and that’s an awesome thing for the community! The Vita is becoming the open source gamer’s dream because of a whole slew of source ports and such!
What’s GNU Robbo?
This game an open source port of the game ‘The Adventures of Robbo’ which was a great hit in Poland in the late 80s and early 90s. It was initially released on the Atari XL/XE computers but thanks this open source implantation, we can enjoy it on various consoles. It’s quite a simple yet fun game in which you have to finish levels with your cool robot. The start screen has instructions on how to play the game too! There are movement and shooting instructions.
Where to get the game from?
Quite straight forward actually, just get the VPK from GekiHEN and you’re done. You just have to install it from VitaShell after copying it via FTP/USB. This is a must have game if you’re a fan of Commander Keen and DOS-era platforms as they’re similar in style. There’s also a PSP port of the same game if you fancy that.
